I’m thrilled to share this beautiful engagement session of Calissa and Jack at the Brenton Arboretum, just outside Des Moines, but first, a little about the couple.
Calissa and Jack’’s story began in September 2021 at Iowa State University. Fate brought them together through their sorority and fraternity’s pairing for homecoming events. Both were involved in “Yell like Hell”, an event where participants paint themselves from head to toe and chant about their love for Iowa State (iykyk). Jack was the co-chair for the event, taking his job very seriously, while Calissa was an eager participant. Jack soon realized that he should get to know his fellow comrades, however there was one that struck his eye. They became fast friends and it wasn’t long before they realized they had connected on a deeper level. Over the past two years, their bond has only grown stronger. They recently celebrated their two-year anniversary, and just a few days later, Jack proposed to Calissa at her home church!
For their shoot, Calissa wanted a location close to Des Moines with lush green, open fields, gravel roads, a place where we can explore and play. Lucky for us, Brenton Arboretum was the perfect place for a summer engagement session. We bonded over our love for Iowa State and Taylor Swift. In my humble opinion, they are the epitome of the song “So High School.” Whether they were laughing together or sharing a quiet, intimate moment, Calissa and Jack’s love was evident in every frame.
I’m honored to be part of their journey and cannot be more excited to capture more beautiful moments on their wedding day.
